Reaching the Lost in the New Millennium
Ross M. Lindsay, III, J.D., L.L.M., Ph.D. is President of Sonship Ministries. He is a graduate of Presbyterian College, the University of South Carolina, Columbia Biblical Seminary, London School of Theology, and Cardiff University Law School. Dr. Lindsay has written a paper setting forth models for planting cell churches in strategic locations throughout the United States.

This paper examines the state of the church in the United States today and analyzes the recently released 2000 Census Data in order to determine the fastest growing cities, counties, boomburbs and states in the U.S.

In his book, ChurchNext, Anglican priest and Fuller Seminary professor Eddie Gibbs states: "The Great Commission entrusted to the church was to go into all the world, not to beckon the world to come to it." According to Gibbs, it is time for the church to "seek the lost," not just attract a crowd.

Church growth expert Peter Wagner in his book, Understanding Church Growth, says that "today's supreme task is the multiplication of churches." Similarly, Robert Logan says, in his book, Beyond Church Growth: "We will never complete the Great Commission without the multiplication of churches. . . Planting churches is by far the most cost-effective means of evangelism."

As Christians, we are commanded to go out to seek and save the lost; and planting new cell churches has been proven as the most effective means of doing so. Accordingly, Mr. Lindsay's paper attempts to determine where most of the lost live in the United States in order to find the most fertile ground for planting new cell churches.

Finally, Dr. Lindsay sets forth one year, five year, ten year, fifteen year and twenty five year models for planting cell churches throughout the U.S. using saturation church planting strategies.
