Saturation Church Planting
The What and Why of Saturation Church Planting
Dr. Dwight Smith is President of Saturation Church Planting International (SCPI) which has offices in London, England and Columbia, South Carolina. Dr. Smith and SCPI have developed a strategy for planting new churches which they call "Saturation Church Planting." Smith worked alongside Jim Montgomery and others as they developed the DAWN (Disciple A Whole Nation)Strategy for planting new churches which has been implemented successfully in Philipines and other countries.

Saturation church planting, according to Smith, is a strategy to empower and mobilize local churches in order to guarantee that in a specific time frame, every man, woman and child within a defined geographical area will have the opportunity to accept Jesus Christ as his or her Savior and be integrated into a local Church.

Smith and SCPI typically work with denominations and attempt to joint venture their church planting efforts with existing churches in order to take advantage of existing infrastructure and leverage resources.

Smith and SCPI are presently doing saturation church planting in the Ukraine, India, and London.

Dr. Lindsay's paper, Reaching the Lost in the New Millennium, discusses saturation church planting in more detail and sets forth five saturation church planting strategies for planting new churches in the United States.
